State Tax Commission had authority to direct all actions taken for the collection of taxes or penalties, direct the defense of the State when claims are filed against it and to prosecute those guilty of tax violations. This series contains documents regarding various civil and criminal suits filed by or against the Ala. Power Company. Information included in the series is reasons for the cases, dates of the case, public utility assessments, tax assessments on lands and materials concerning the Tallassee Dam. In 1939 the State Tax Commission was renamed the Dept. of Revenue.
